It’s fair to say that there has been a lot of discussion on GTA V this week and over the past weekend, since Rockstar has now confirmed the unfortunate news that the game has now been delayed until September instead of a Spring release as originally intended. There has been all sorts of speculation on why Rockstar has chosen to delay the game, but the company has taken to their official website to clarify the situation and maintain that there is no other motives for delaying other than to make the game a better product upon release.
GTA V is now due out on September 17 and it now means that we still have over six months to go until the release of the monumental game. Many had begun to wonder if the delay was due to the arrival of next-gen consoles, since it is highly likely that we’ll see both next-gen consoles from Microsoft and Sony arrive before the end of the year – with the Sony PS4 heavily expected to be unveiled later this month at Sony’s PlayStation Meeting 2013.
Other theories talked about for the delay, involved whispers on Rockstar delaying the game in order to accomodate a GTA V release on Wii U and PC. The developer has only previously said that other platforms are ‘up for consideration’, so we highly doubt that a six month extra window can suddenly mean that PC and Wii U versions are on the way – although it would obviously be great if it did happen down the line.
Rockstar has said on their website that the only reason the game is delayed is due to the fact that ‘they want the game to be as good as it needs to be’. In all honesty though, GTA V is probably the only game out of a select few that gamers could even argue that a positive outcome may come out of this in the end.
GTA V is going to be an amazing game, everybody knows that. Rockstar needing an extra six months is only going to make that game even better and fans will appreciate it when September arrives. The official GTA V box art is apparently on the way soon which is good news, and hopefully trailer 3 will follow it as well.
What are your thoughts on Rockstar’s need to come out and shoot down these ‘conspiracy theories’?
