Having looked at many aspects of the new 2014 Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray there are not many things we would change, well maybe one or two things to help improve its handling. However, we find it strange that there is already an aftermarket part that is said to add a little flare to the design of the C7, but we’d love to know if you agree.
The Corvette C7 Stingray upgrade is a kit that changes the square tail lights and replaces them with the round ones we are used to seeing on a Corvette. However, there is a fear that this upgrade could affect performance because how it disrupts the air at the rear of the car. However, we can understand why potential buyers of the C7 would wish to change the rear lights because they’re not loved by all. If you’re looking for something a little different then maybe you should consider the convertible version instead, which will get its debut at Geneva.
We would have assumed that an American parts specialist would have come up with the option to change them, but we were socked when we learned that an Italian enthusiast website were the first. You’ll notice from the image above that the new lights look very similar to that of the C6, which we are certain would have been a far better option for Corvette lovers if Chevrolet just went with that design in the first place.
If you would like the redesigned lights you will have to change the rear fender as well, but the air channel that was designed around the lights has now gone. This could be an issue because they would have been put there for a reason, and we all know how important airflow is to a cars performance.
Overall it’s a nice upgrade, but the $2,800 price tag could put a few potential buyers off.
