During the BlackBerry Launch Event yesterday we had hoped to hear news of a new version of the PlayBook, but that did not happen. However, it wasn’t all bad because the PlayBook will be updated to the new BlackBerry 10 OS, which should make the tablet run much smoother.
There were countless rumors that BlackBerry’s tablet was going to receive a spec bump but because this was not confirmed yesterday, there is now uncertainty. Having said that, when BlackBerry said that the PlayBook was to get the new software update there is still the possibility that the hardware could receive a much-needed upgrade.
If there was to be an update then there are obvious features that need some attention first, such as an update from the dual-core 1.5 GHz Cortex A9 processor and the less than impressive 1GB or RAM. The 32GB of storage also seems a little limited now when compared to rival tablet devices. To make full use of BB10 the PlayBook needs much faster hardware, but what changes would you like to see made?
Yesterday was all about the new BlackBerry 10 operating system, and the two new handsets, the Z10 and Q10. The Z10 is already available to buy in the UK, with the Q10 coming next month. However, those of you in the US will have to wait until march for both these handset, which could be ideal if there are any bugs found in BB10, as an update should be made before you get your hands on them.
