We have been lucky enough to get hands-on with a couple of accessories from Be.ez over the last week or two, which include the Apple iPad mini LA robe and LA cover Allure for iPhone 5. This review takes a close look at both products after we spent many hours using them.
LA robe Black Addict for iPad mini – you can see a side shot of the iPad mini LA robe in the photo below that also shows just how thick the case is, precise measurements are 203x138x9.5mm, and the outside jersey fabric material is visible along with the well-known Be.ez logo.
The next couple of photos reveal the inside lining and how easy the iPad mini fits into the LA robe, which as you can see still leaves room on either side of the 7.9-inch iPad. It is worth noting that the iPad mini doesn’t slide about and stayed pretty still once inside thanks to the inside lining and snug fit in terms of thickness.
Be.ez has named this design of the LA robe “Black Addict“, and the color is officially called Raspberry. The shape is pretty stylish and once your iPad mini is inside it will add a lot of thickness to the device when carrying around, although this is essential if you want to give your tablet the best protection.
We were concerned about the sides of the iPad mini being damaged if we dropped the LA robe, but after closer inspection we found they are well protected. This is thanks to an inner lip that delivers maximum protection and also the snug fit stops the iPad mini from moving too much.
Be.ez iPad mini LA robe Low Resilience Polyurethane (LRPu) technology – it is hard to explain how the casing feels on the LA robe and the technology behind it is pretty sound, from what we can see, which will take average drops and still keep the iPad mini intact. We took a few close up photos of the material used within the LA robe case, officially named LRPu, although we had to push quite hard to make our finger do what it does in the photo below.
The Low Resilience Polyurethane reminds us of some types of protection that’s included in certain boxes when you have a package delivered, although we’re sure the material is a little more advanced than this. In a nutshell the casing is a shape-memory material that is also soft.
Be.ez black iPad mini LA robe in Raspberry or Wasabi – while we had the Raspberry color LA robe you can also purchase a Wasabi version, which might be for those of you that like something less pink and more green. You can see the two color options in the pictures below.
You can read more details on the iPad mini LA robe via the official Be.ez product page. Prices in the UK are around £20 at the time of writing and a little more in dollars for the US.
LA cover Allure for iPhone 5 – we also spent at least two weeks using an iPhone 5 case from Be.ez, which they have named LA cover Allure. The design on the back is perfect for those of our readers that like wood grain finishes, even if they’re in black, and also want a transparent side included with an iPhone 5 case.
The photo below shows how easy it is to snap on the Allure iPhone 5 case that you do with slight force, which is needed to keep the case on tight when using your phone over a long period of time. The last thing you want is for your iPhone 5 to drop out of this snap-on case.
You can see the transparent crystal clear edges in the two photos below, which also provide a slight grip when holding your iPhone. This might not be the neatest finish to an iPhone 5 case but its simplistic approach works, and considering our new iPhone has scratches and other marks thanks to having no case for weeks, this wouldn’t have happened if we had the Allure case since purchasing the iPhone 5 last year.
While the iPhone 5 Allure case covers all four corners on the front and back, it also leaves certain areas open where you need to access ports and buttons. The hard case protection comes thanks to high quality ABS and weights just 15.5g.
In the next three photos you can see the different access points left open for users to access the aforementioned areas. We had no problems with the space provided at each of these points, although it is worth pointing out that some docks and other iPhone 5 accessories might not work correctly when the case is attached.
Finally, we have included a couple of pictures below that feature different options for the iPhone 5 case from Be.ez. This includes the Allure Black design that we went hands-on with and also the Allure Estival for those of you that want something to standout a lot more.
You can read some of the technical details for the LA cover Allure for iPhone 5 here on be-ez.com. We have seen the LA Allure priced at around £25 in the UK and $40 in this US.
Bottom-line: Simple but effective.
