Many of our readers still would prefer an iPhone 5 bumper case to most other protective options, even if these other cases offer more protection than bumpers do. The reason we preferred the bumper on an iPhone 4S had been thanks to the design being kept almost untouched, which is certainly not the case with more bulkier options. The good news is that CES featured a number of iPhone 5 bumper cases that are either for sale right away, or will launch in the first half of 2013.
BUMPR for iPhone 5 delivers best of both worlds – another case featured at CES and coming soon is the BUMPR, which delivers 2 interchangeable bumpers that TYLT like to call BUMPRS. You also benefit from a hard outer shell in a slim-line design to add hardly any depth. You can see the official website for this product at tylt.com, although the only information available is what you see in the image above.
Another brand that is merging the bumper design for iPhone 5 with foam backing is IdAmerica, which can be seen with the Cushi Plus case that featured at CES 2013. We have tracked down a hands-on video below this article that delivers a quick review of the main features.
Those of our readers that simply want an iPhone 5 bumper case with a choice of colors should see the Cushi Band, which can be seen in the image above. As you can see there’s a massive range of colors to choose from for this case that will provide “adequate drop protection“, although it is good to remember that if you need a lot more protection then a bumper case wouldn’t be ideal and you might want to consider something from Otterbox. You can also purchase a Cushi soft foam pad separately for the bumper case in the above photo and full details can be found here.
Lastly we included a second video below that had been taken at CES this year and features an iPhone 5 impact resistant bumper case thanks to Tech21 Impactology. These Tech21 Impactology iPhone 5 bumper cases are available in Apple stores across North America.
