When we first started playing Skyrim Dawnguard it had been interesting to find new things to do in the same world we’d explored before, which included a new story after installing the Dawnguard add-on. Skyrim’s Dragonborn DLC brings with it a new map at a size that’s just right, and if you enjoyed exploring every corner of the previous map then this new area will have you playing for many more hours. We spent well over 400 hours on the PS3 version and then another 400 hours on the Xbox 360 once the DLC arrived, so we’re very grateful to see new land.
Our time with Skyrim’s Dragonborn DLC hasn’t been long, so we’ll have a lot more to say in the coming weeks, but the most notable difference is that this content feels like a real expansion thanks to the size of a new map. It is fair to say Dawnguard brought with it a few new locations, but nothing on the scale of Dragonborn. With this in-mind and after playing Dragonborn for a short time, we feel Bethesda did the right thing bringing this DLC to the PS3 first before the others. Although that still depends on how long it takes for the expansion to release on the PS3 in “early 2013“, and also when they’ll launch Skyrim Dawnguard and Hearthfire next year as confirmed in our previous article.
Have you played the Skyrim Dragonborn DLC, and if so do you like the new map? You will also find a lot of side quests and considering the size of this map, there’ll be a lot more for most gamers to find even after a week of gameplay. The Dragonborn DLC obviously brings new cities but also new armor, dragon shouts, weapons, enemies, and dragon riding that disappointed us a little considering the lack of control. Some gamers are already talking about disappointment with the main quest, although in our opinion Skyrim’s Dragonborn DLC is well worth the price for another map alone and the adventure to be found there. If you’re a true Skyrim explorer then you got to get hands-on with the new map. Those of our readers experiencing problems starting the Dragonborn DLC should see this article.
