Dragonborn DLC map size rejuvenates Skyrim

When we first started playing Skyrim Dawnguard it had been interesting to find new things to do in the same world we’d explored before, which included a new story after installing the Dawnguard add-on. Skyrim’s Dragonborn DLC brings with it a new map at a size that’s just right, and if you enjoyed exploring every corner of the previous map then this new area will have you playing for many more hours. We spent well over 400 hours on the PS3 version and then another 400 hours on the Xbox 360 once the DLC arrived, so we’re very grateful to see new land.

Our time with Skyrim’s Dragonborn DLC hasn’t been long, so we’ll have a lot more to say in the coming weeks, but the most notable difference is that this content feels like a real expansion thanks to the size of a new map. It is fair to say Dawnguard brought with it a few new locations, but nothing on the scale of Dragonborn. With this in-mind and after playing Dragonborn for a short time, we feel Bethesda did the right thing bringing this DLC to the PS3 first before the others. Although that still depends on how long it takes for the expansion to release on the PS3 in “early 2013“, and also when they’ll launch Skyrim Dawnguard and Hearthfire next year as confirmed in our previous article.

Have you played the Skyrim Dragonborn DLC, and if so do you like the new map? You will also find a lot of side quests and considering the size of this map, there’ll be a lot more for most gamers to find even after a week of gameplay. The Dragonborn DLC obviously brings new cities but also new armor, dragon shouts, weapons, enemies, and dragon riding that disappointed us a little considering the lack of control. Some gamers are already talking about disappointment with the main quest, although in our opinion Skyrim’s Dragonborn DLC is well worth the price for another map alone and the adventure to be found there. If you’re a true Skyrim explorer then you got to get hands-on with the new map. Those of our readers experiencing problems starting the Dragonborn DLC should see this article.

Stop calling it a “new map”. This is not Battlefield or Halo. Please treat this as the proper role playing game that it is, and stop acting like it’s Call of Duty with swords.

lol Did you even read the article? This article is actually talking about the size of the area of the DLC. It is completely acceptable to key the term “the size of the area of the DLC” the map. Especially when you have a rather large picture of the Skyrim map demonstrating the size of the “map”.

        ‘Lol’? Oh dear.

hey dummy…it is a new map, that’s why they call it a “NEW MAP”. Would you prefer them to instead say a “new diagrammatic representation of an area of land or sea showing physical features, cities, roads etc”?

      • Morrowinder

It’s not new, this map was in Morrowind

      • Abe Reeve

Correction it is a ‘map’ (I am neither agreeing nor disagreeing with the use of the term) new to Skyrim… ‘dummy’.

whats funny is that its a fact that the probelm w/ dlc for ps3 was a memory issue and bethesda still have yet to actually come out to say so

It is not a new map, its just an old map with 2 centurys worth of change. the Bloodmoon addon for Elder Scrolls III Morrowind was when the island was first playable. In my opinion its nice to have it back, but man I wish it could have been protected against the ash from Red Mountain or something cause now its ugly! and I dislike or am saddened by the islands current history. And I disliked the main quest a bit, reasons if anyone wants them, It would be nice for there to be like a way to purify the island of ash/other and restore it to its former glory like its older days or something like that in a mini dlc or something. and i wish I could have gotten back the factors estate somehow. otherwise besides all that the dlc was awesome.
