Select 2013 Ford Escape and Fusion models have been named in a recall after running into problems with the engines overheating, which could reportedly lead to fires with the SEL and SE models. Ford state that 15,833 Fusion sedans and 73,320 Escape compacts are involved in this latest recall for 2012.
The auto maker explained that only the 1.6-liter engine 2013 Ford Fusion and 2013 Ford Escape models were affected that were sold in Canada and the US, although you’re best to check with your local dealer to get final confirmation. It seems that other engine sizes are not affected by this recall.
This latest problem with Ford cars can only add to the long line of issues over the years, and considering Ford recalled select 2013 Escape models recently for numerous problems it can’t be good news for the auto maker. The previous recall for Ford’s 2013 Escape included issues with the carpet interfering with pedals, coolant leaks, and fuel leaks.
It is worth noting that some drivers point out that you should see warning lights showing problems exist, which could include vehicle gauges showing messages for engines over normal temperature and the engine power being reduced. If you experience any of these messages on the 2013 Escape / Fusion 1.6L then pull over safely right away. Some people also warn of warning sounds as well, so if you’ve experienced any of these messages then feel free to explain what they said in the comments.
