As the wait goes on for an untethered iOS 6 jailbreak for the iPhone 5, it appears that more details have emerged on the ever growing term of ‘failbreak’. This method looks to have found a way to open up Apple’s new iPad Mini and it could be a great indication that a public jailbreak will come available for public download.
To give you a brief reminder of what a failbreak means, it essentially implies that a jailbreak has been achieved on a respective device, but unlike traditional jailbreaks, a failbreak is only possible when using an Apple developer account. This is the exact same method as what Chpwn used when he created a frenzy after appearing to suggest that a jailbreak had been achieved on the iPhone 5 running iOS 6.
While consumers are still in the same position with no actual iOS 6 untethered jailbreak to download, the failbreak for the iPad Mini as confirmed on Musclenerd’s Twitter account should been seen as a positive. Reasons for this, are the fact that a public jailbreak for the iPad Mini may be weeks away, while it’s also another indication that the ‘underground’ community are still working hard on custom software, for those that may have become disillusioned recently with no apparent breakthroughs.
As Apple developer accounts are out of reach for many consumers, there is nothing really left to do, except hold it out in the hope that a working iOS 6 jailbreak for A5 and A6 devices is found. It is obviously going to happen sooner or later, but for now it looks like Apple has found a way to tighten up their security for iOS 6 a lot more.
Do you have the iPad Mini already? If so, are you willing to jailbreak it as soon as software releases? An important thing to remember though, is that the jailbreaking of iPad devices will be illegal as of January 2013, thanks to new rulings from the DMCA. That means that developers only have a few months to get their software out before Apple brings out the legal hammer.
