Before the Apple event we did wonder how the new iPad mini features would be justified if they included an almost 8-inch screen, especially that the new iPad 4 features a screen just 2-inches bigger, so this has resulted in what most of the rumors suggested and Apple has explained why there’s a need for both tablets. Today we wanted to present their explanation for both the iPad 4 and mini, just in case you missed it, and this has been done thanks to two videos we’ve embedded on this page.
It would be an understatement to say we know Apple products well, which is thanks to plenty of hands-on time with just about every new Apple product over the last few years, although we’re shocked by what Apple did with the 4th generation iPad so soon after the 3rd-gen released.
We can see why Apple wanted to launch an iPad 4 with the new lighting adapter, but rather than refreshing the current “New iPad” they instead went for a 4th generation, which has resulted in the 3rd generation vanishing. We can also understand that the iPad mini might have a price that some people think costs too much, although the better build quality is one reason why it’s priced higher and this means less of a plastic feel like some Android tablets. You can also find a number of Android tablets around the $350 mark thanks to spending more on build quality, which might make the iPad mini $329 starting price seem not so bad.
The first video below this article takes a look at the iPad 4 features being presented at the event, so you’ll get details of the specs and also see Apple explaining why the iPad 4 release makes sense, in their opinion. The second video is the official Apple iPad mini trailer, which goes into detail as to why the iPad mini is better than the competition, although we’d love to know if you agree?
Are you happy to see the 4th generation iPad so soon? We’d love to see a Q&A session with iPad 3 owners and Apple, although we very much doubt anything like this would be done, and the possibility that Apple might have known an iPad 4 would launch in 2012 as well as the 3rd-gen all along. You can read more about the iPad 4 and mini release date in this article.
