If there’s one thing we really want to see today during the Apple keynote, then that is an iPhone 5 bumper case made by Apple and not 3rd parties. We’ve owned and tested 6 generations of iPhone and loved the way our 4S model kept most of the design thanks to a simple bumper case, so we’d hope something official sees an announcement during the press event today.
Apple not thinking it’s needed – when we saw the iPhone 5 first launch it had been assumed that a case might not be needed for the 6th generation iPhone, which would be due to the fortification and improved design that is much harder to break. Shortly after this we’ve seen Apple explain that scratches can happen that lead to the silver aluminum showing, which is perfectly “normal” if you scratch your iPhone 5.
There are 3rd party iPhone 5 bumper cases available now and you can see a photo below, which showcases a number of colors from one 3rd party accessory maker. You can read more about these options in our earlier article, and also the reasons why a bumper case is a good idea for your iPhone 5 here. We found that bumper cases still protect your iPhone from most drops and by raising the phone off a surface you stop scratches, which also allows for almost all the original design to shine through.
Do you want an official Apple iPhone 5 bumper case, or are you happy with 3rd parties? If you like something made by hand then you might like these cases from Otis James. You can also read about watching the event live in this article, although we’d still love to know what new products you want to see from Apple today?
