The demand for an iOS 6 jailbreak on iPhone 5 has certainly reached fever pitch this week, which had been helped by an iPhone 5 tethered jailbreak looking likely extremely soon. We looked at the progress being published to one Twitter account yesterday, and this also revealed that while an untethered iOS 6 jailbreak would be more difficult it seemed to be possible within the next couple of months.
Apple iPhone 5 with an iOS 6 jailbreak vs. failbreak – this is a word that had been invented pretty recently, and while a “failbreak” means that an iPhone 5 jailbreak has been possible, it also means that it cannot be given a release to public thanks to a number of reasons. You might remember the Cydia picture shortly after the iPhone 5 launched, which had jailbreakers excited but this had been a failbreak thanks to no chance you’d be able to get your iPhone 5 doing the same thing with a public release.
Hackers are close to an iOS 6 jailbreak for iPhone 5, although problems exist thanks to the need for a developer account and the fact that developers sign into a non-disclosure agreement. It is also true that some users/developer believe that an iOS 6 untethered jailbreak is many months away for the iPhone 5, and it could also be a few months yet until a tethered option sees a public download.
You can see one comment we had from a PR reader below, which clearly explains why there’s a possibility that you might be waiting some time yet for that iPhone 5 jailbreak.
How patient do you feel right now when it comes to a jailbreak for your iPhone 5? We’ve also included a video below this article that runs for over 3 minutes, and explains how to jailbreak iOS 6 for iPhone 4, 3GS, and the 4G iPod touch. It is worth noting that you can also perform an untethered jailbreak with the 3GS, although this needs an old bootrom. We’ll update you when the iPhone 5 jailbreak goes live with iOS 6 installed, although remember that any jailbreaking is done at your own risk and to never pay for any service, especially considering most of them end up being fake.
