iPhone 5 unboxing from early shipping

By Updated on

The iPhone 5 is not due to go on sale until September 21st, but it looks like some lucky consumers have already received their shipments early. Aside from the reviews that are now going out, the first images of an iPhone 5 unboxing has now hit the internet.

If you are wondering what is inside the brand new packaging for the iPhone 5 and Apple’s redesigned layout of the box – now is your chance. Consumers all over the world will be opening their own boxes up on Friday, but photos published by BGR within the last few hours show exactly what you’ll be getting – including a look at the brand new Lightning to USB connector.

Upon opening the package, the first thing you’ll probably notice is that Apple has now changed the box color from white to black, as shown in the photo below. Previously, the boxes for the iPhone 4 and 4S were both white, regardless of color choice – although it remains to be seen whether Apple has opted for a black box for both the white and black iPhone 5 models.

Inside the box, the layout has changed from the iPhone 4 and 4S as well. Instead of the three compartment layout used for the 4/4S, Apple has opted for one main profile with three slot cutouts for the new EarPods, power cable and Lightning connector. The EarPods have also been wrapped in a unique protector case as well, unlike the 4 and 4S when they were enclosed in a simple film wrapping.

We’ve included another photo below, just to give you a recap of the layout changes from previous models of the iPhone – is it too much detail on ‘just an iPhone 5 box’ perhaps? Some of you will still be interested to know we feel. Let us know your thoughts on the new packaging and if you have received your iPhone 5 early. Did you order black or white? OK, this is now becoming an illness, an obsession regarding Apple. Why would anyone care how the phone was packaged? It’s even scarier that you remember how the last iPhone was packaged!
