There has been steady progress towards perfection with Android 4.1 for Samsung’s Galaxy S3, which the latest Jelly Bean leaks are the most stable yet and lead us to believe that the update will land any moment now. While the latest leaks for Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean are not perfect, the stability shown means we are days rather than weeks away from a rollout.
The latest version of Android 4.1.1 at the time of writing is I9300XXDLI5 and when it comes to leaked firmware this is as stable as they get, and might mean an official download could release this week, which would contradict reports at the start of Sept pointing to a launch at the end of the month.
How about Samsung Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean within 48 hours? When we think back to the wait for Ice Cream Sandwich and how long it took the different brands to rollout that update, it seems like lessons might have been learned with Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean and getting the update out to users much quicker. In our earlier article we looked at the possibility of Samsung trying to steal a little of Apple’s thunder with an update on their iPhone 5 event day, which is within 48 hours, and while most Galaxy S3 users won’t care about Apple they will love the idea of Jelly Bean landing so soon if this does happen.
We’ve seen a number of hands-on videos before that show Jelly Bean running on Galaxy S3, and it has been easy to see the benefits of Project Butter, which delivers a lot of fixes with a faster experience that also feels smoother. It is pretty obvious that the update is about to land when you consider the increase in leaks from developers, which seem to be a daily occurrence right now.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean and expected release date – worse case scenario you’ll see Android 4.1 launch within the next 2 weeks, but in our opinion the flurry of leaks hints directly at a rollout within a few days and possibly this week.
What are you looking forward to most about Jelly Bean on your Samsung Galaxy S3? The latest firmware showed a number of improvements and these included the brightness issue being fixed, apps open faster now, the battery charges faster, a number of RAM optimizations have been performed, and you should see better Wi-Fi reception.
