Samsung’s dark Galaxy S3 in Jelly Bean visual

By Posted 2 Sep 2012, 18:40

There is one thing the majority of Samsung Galaxy S3 users want right now, and no matter if they are running Verizon, AT&T, or another network it is Android 4.1 they’re after. During IFA a number of tech reporters managed to get hands-on with a version of Samsung Galaxy S3 running Jelly Bean, and while the device had been seen still running Samsung’s TouchWiz, a quick look at settings and the status of the device shows Android version 4.1.1 on model number GT-I9305.

We’ve included a couple of videos below this article, which were taken during IFA within the last couple of days. Both show a hands-on with the darker Samsung Galaxy S3 and give a tour of the new Jelly Bean software on the flagship smartphone, although it is fair to say this has been seen before at other locations but the initial reactions to these videos from IFA is one of disappointment.

Some Galaxy S3 owners feel that Samsung are only providing 50% of Jelly Bean and not the full experience, which is due to the way Samsung has changed the software for their needs. This is why some users prefer to buy smartphones that install stock Android rather than cut down versions. Are you happy with the way Jelly Bean looks for Galaxy S3?

The photo above features a screenshot from one of the videos, and gives you a quick look at the status screen within settings. Take a look at the first video below for more in-depth information and it is worth noting that this version doesn’t seem much faster than previous tests running ICS. There is still no word on when the Galaxy S3 will get Jelly Bean, although considering it has been seen in the flesh on a Vodafone handset and previous promises said a matter of a few weeks, you should end up seeing the update this month at some point or at the very latest mid-October.

Are you happy with this version of Jelly Bean on the Samsung Galaxy S3, or do you prefer stock Android devices? We’d love to hear your thoughts on this and also other options that include stock Android. Are you tired of waiting for Jelly Bean to land on the Galaxy S3, and what network would you like to see it land on first?

You can also read about the worries surrounding Apple going after Samsung’s flagship phone, which can be seen in this earlier article, although the outcome of this case is some time away and could be far reaching.

May not be faster – but as a current S3 owner it looks smoother!

how long till they release jelly bean???

Personally I would prefer pure Android on my phone without Touchwizz, however it isn’t a major issue

well ill prefer the release of the newest version of android juts like the IOS releases, i come from iPhone 4s and the thing i use to love about the fruit is that the IOS get to the devices intermediate and you don’t have to wait month to get it if you are lucky, or even a year if you are waiting for your carrier to release the version full of useless apps.
Google really needs to improve this, also Samsung let me down with this, how come they didn’t put this OS in to they’re flag ship device?? its probably the stupidest thing to do…

I read it will be again delayed, android updates are also mess. Google has to change this ASAP!
