Transformer Pad TF300 live with Jelly Bean update

By Updated on

We have some fantastic news for those of you with an ASUS Transformer Pad T300 tablet. The Taiwanese manufacturer has so far been very swift and reliable with their official software updates, and now we have the first hints that an update to Android 4.1 Jelly bean is now available.

As most of you know, ASUS wasted no time in bringing Ice Cream Sandwich to their collection of tablets once it was available and now it looks like they will be one of the first to provide an official taste of Jelly bean to a tablet other than the Nexus 7 – which ASUS themselves built along with Google.

ASUS has previously said that Jelly Bean would be coming to the Transformer Pad TF300, but have yet to confirm any sort of dates for owners. Whispers, as well as a screenshot provided by Android Community however suggests that a few lucky consumers in the US have already been updated to Jelly Bean over the weekend.

If you do have the TF300 model, head into your settings now and see if you can push the update manually yourselves. The new build number for Jelly Bean is identified as JR003C and if you have it, you’ll be updated to Android 4.1.1 afterwards. Early feedback suggests that the update is a pleasing one, with a performance improvement noticeable straight away.

Another great thing about ASUS is that they rarely tamper with the overall ‘stock’ experience of Google updates. Their Ice Cream Sandwich update was more or less a stock version and it looks to be the same with Jelly Bean. Let us know if you have already updated to Jelly Bean over the weekend, or if you’re waiting for the notification still.
