We had hoped that Mario Balotelli’s Hulk up celebration from Euro 2012 would find its way into FIFA 13 and it looks like we are getting our wish. EA has just released a new gameplay trailer, showing off some of the motion capture process that goes into making the game.
FIFA 13 has already been given a release date of September 28 in Europe and from footage we’ve seen so far it looks like the best FIFA game to date. We always end up saying the same thing, yet EA always find a way to improve on the game year on year. This time we’re going to see a brand new first touch system, as well as the new Player Impact Engine which will allow for even more realistic play compared to FIFA 12.
As for Balotelli’s Hulk up celebration, it doesn’t look like EA has enlisted the services of Balotelli himself. Instead they have brought in some other professional players from the MLS to perform the trick instead. We’re guessing that money could have been a big factor in getting Mario to perform his celebration himself, but fans will still be happy in the end with his move included in the game regardless.
You can see it around 0.25 into the video – do you think Mario would be proud of it, or is it a poor effort? Either way, it’s nice to see EA include such a popular talking point from this Summer’s Euros into the game. Hopefully there will be some other goodies put in the game as well, like Fabio Borini’s knife cutting celebration for Liverpool FC for example.
Are you surprised that Balotelli didn’t do the motion capture for the celebration himself, or are you just happy that you can now recreate one of the highlights of the Euros on your sofa? Let us know what else you want to see added to FIFA 13 before release.
