iPhone 5 lacks SJ appeal

By Posted 26 Jul 2012, 03:45

You would think the majority of Apple fans would love to see the iPhone 5 receive a name more innovative, which would also become a tribute for Steve Jobs. This man had been the vision behind Apple and made it the success we know today, so heading towards a release date around one year after his death seems like the perfect time to name a special edition iPhone 5. Adding the letters SJ would be enough, and some users point out that if the 6th generation device is the true upgrade to iPhone 4 then it would be a phone worthy of a tribute.

We touched on this a few days ago when we wrote about respect for Steve Jobs with an iPhone 5 with SJ letters instead of a number, although some Apple fans surprised us following this article and in an online poll that involved over 800 people. It seems there are a number of people that “love the SJ idea more than iPhone 5“, and also state this would need “consent of Jobs family first“, which is understandable. The surprise came with the major of comments and those polled, 68 percent, feel it’s a bad idea or that it won’t happen.

There were a number of reasons why the majority feel this way, and these include opinions that “Apple don’t care“, or “not on the anniversary of his death” because iPhone 5 should be launched when its ready and see just a commendation toward Steve Jobs. We feel that Apple will always remember him, and one good point made is that the company needs to show they can operate as the same company without Steve Jobs.

Plenty of names for the 6th generation – there are loads of names that Apple fans think the next phone could be titled, and while iPhone SJ sounds good it’s not the most popular where expectations are concerned. Most people think Apple will go the New iPad route, so there is a good chance we will see “New iPhone” in 2012. Another popular choice includes the letters LTE, although considering this is tied to one feature that has already been included on the New iPad, we doubt it will happen.

We could also see a large void filled between the next iPhone and 10-inch iPad, which a number of credible sources claim there will definitely be an iPad mini at 7-inches. This will fill the gap between a 4-inch phone and 10-inch tablet.

What the users want for iPhone 5 specs and carriers? When it comes to carriers you can count on Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon, but a number of people don’t want to move away from T-Mobile and hope something is arranged by the release date that is expected in October. There are a long list of wanted specs for the next iPhone, and these include an NFC chip for wireless payments, a redesigned home button, larger display that is wider than the current model, an upgraded camera, faster processor, LTE, and of course a free adapter if the connector port is shrunk. Feel free to share your wishes in the comments below.

I think it needs to be optional for people to buy what they want. You should be able to customize your own iPhone. I would love for my screen to be bigger like some of the evos. And if apple is thinking about changing the port size. How will we be accomadated, why change something that works? Apple listen to your consumers and associates there your best idea generators.

Why change something that works? Dude, as a company you can’t move forward and innovate the products you have if you never change them. With the dock being smaller it allows for more battery our some other type of technology that’s completely innovative, and could possibly change the world. Someday soon they won’t even have cords anymore and everything will be wireless.

That’s so true, antenna’s work and if no one changed it we would still have phones with antenna’s now. I think people are being too closed minded about the port, If you are worried about the port being the wrong size someone will bring out an adapter on eBay for about £3. People stop whining and embrace innovation

Looking at the story above it would seem to be a good idea but what happens next year when they bring out the iPhone 5s? It will have to be called the iPhone 5sjs! I think I’ll stick with the 4s anyway the new one looks the same, just stretched a bit, you are right innovation is the key don’t just stick with the same boring design INNOVATE, apple fans will still buy it because many of them want what’s under the hood not what it looks like, if it looked awesome all the better.

I’d stick to my nokia 3210.  It’s less complicated and I love old classic snake :)
