One of the most popular portals for gamers is a website called N4G, which aims to provide the latest news surrounding popular platforms like the Xbox 360, PS3, PC, and rumors on next-generation systems. They normally do a good job of delivering the latest news on a broad range of topics, but over the last 5 days we’ve heard from a number of our readers tipping us about major problems with the N4G website.
We tested the problems reported to us, which include users claiming they could not click the “Hot Now” section, blank white pages when they submit comments, reply to posts not working, Bubble Up/Down, and those with the ability to approve news have been unable to do so for up to 5 days. It seems that this is some sort of scripting issue with N4G, and we tested the website within Firefox and it worked fine at first. We later discovered that this had been because we had their website loaded in our cache, and had not refreshed to see the new scripts, which are not working correctly. You can see the image that many links send you to above.
At the time of writing there has been little feedback from N4g and some of their users are starting to lose trust in the service, especially considering the lack of a fix for around 5 days, and there forums are filled with questions. Normally the N4G homepage, which shows the latest news above 50 degrees hotness, is flooded with news every few minutes but today you’ll see stories hours old.
Have you experienced problems with the N4G gaming website this week, and if so how are you feeling about the length of time it’s taking to fix? We’ll update our gaming readers as we find out more, although feel free to share a comment below.
