We knew Microsoft were planning a secret event a few days ago and yesterday morning we finally got the details for its location in LA, which followed with a number of blogs covering the event live. The big announcement soon became clear with a new product range called “Surface” by Microsoft.
It had been rumored that Microsoft would launch a new Windows 8 tablet and this turned out to be true, although there is a lot more to Microsoft Surface than we first thought. The tablet aims to give users a unique way to express their creativity and entertainment, and it is Microsoft’s view that this is a new type of computing.
While we are avid Apple users with everything from iPad’s to MacBook Pro’s in our office, you have to be impressed with what Microsoft did with the keyboard/case alone. The iPad is amazing and we’ve owned all three generations, but we love how Microsoft include a keyboard and case in one that attaches just like the iPad cover (some Apple fans will shout copycats here). The big problem for us is the operating system, and how it will compare to Apple’s offering, so keep connected to PR for our reviews of both the Microsoft Surface OS and hardware in the coming days.
Watch the official video demo below that shows Surface by Microsoft, and give us your thoughts on the new tablet in the comments.
