The Microsoft Surface tablet has shown up in all its glory and while we got to see some minor details on the specs, beautiful photos as seen on this page, and a hands-on video by one popular gadget website, below this article, there are some crucial details missing like the release date and price for Microsoft Surface.
There is a Windows RT version of Surface that features an NVIDIA chip, and also a Windows 8 Pro version, slightly thicker, which some will favor thanks to the inclusion of Ivy Bridge processors. While the cover attaches with magnets like the iPad Smart Cover, this is where the similarities end considering the Surface tablet also features a slim kickstand and keyboard, all in an extremely thin form factor.
If Microsoft wishes to compete with the Apple iPad then they need to get to the same price, which is currently from $399 for an iPad. This would mean the Windows RT version would need to come in at around $400, although Surface with Windows 8 Pro is expected to cost around the same price of Ultrabooks, which is higher.
Microsoft Surface has a 16:9 ClearType HD Display that measures 10.6-inches, and the display will auto-adjust, plus there is the inclusion of a Micro SD card slot (something missing from the iPad). The Keyboard cover is only 3mm thin, although the Surface table comes in at 9.3mm allowing for a full sized USB port. You’ll also find two cameras with the rear camera being slightly angled for when the kickstand is in use, and the dual microphones and speakers allow for hands-free meetings and great Skype video calls.
What price would you pay for Microsoft Surface? Take a look at the photos on this page and the quick hands-on video below, and then share a comment with the price you’re prepared to pay. You can also see the official video provided by Microsoft here.
