If you have been watching all of the snippets of Black Ops 2 information that Treyarch and Activision have released so far, you’ll know that they have been very quiet on the new zombie mode that will be returning in Black Ops 2 this November.
However, we have just had one of the most exciting reveals yet and it comes from Daniel Suarez – VP Of Productions at Activision. We’ll be honest and say that we haven’t really heard too much from this guy before, but we sure hope that he continues to give interviews as he has seemingly just revealed two massive new features for zombies.
In an interview with BebopVox at E3, Suarez has let slip that zombies will be getting a theater mode. It will work in the same way as traditional multiplayer mode, but this time letting you record all of the frantic action from zombies and create your own personal montage that you can upload online. It sounds like an amazing idea, but still a surprising one as we didn’t think such an idea would be a priority for Treyarch.
That’s not all though. Aside from theater mode coming to zombies, Suarez also suggested that they will be bringing the concept of wager match mode over to zombies. This is likely to mean that we won’t be getting modes such as gun game or one in the chamber, but rather the idea of players betting on certain outcomes and challenges to complete inside the zombie levels.
If this is true, then it also suggests that Call of Duty points (CP) will be back and they will also be active in zombie mode as well. If you can bet on certain things on zombies, then maybe you can spend these earned points on beefing up your character, so that he or she will survive longer than others. What a great way to mix up things compared to Black Ops – imagine Treyarch allowing players to purchase speed boasts and ammo upgrades with these points. One example just to give you an idea could be purchasing different varieties of shotgun ammo. You could spend more points to pick up more powerful ammo that pierce through zombies quicker, or spend points to start you off with more grenades for example.
Theater mode is good, but wager matches in zombies is massive if true. We can see this becoming very popular online and we’ll certainly enjoy playing this more than multiplayer if Treyarch make it a reality.
