Black Ops 2 Wii U release silences doubters

By Updated on

If you were previously unimpressed with the Wii U’s upcoming lineup, things are about to get a lot more exciting for you. It has been strongly hinted that a Wii U version of none other than Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is on way and even better – it could launch at the same time as other platforms in November.

This isn’t some faint rumor either – the game has been revealed in the upcoming edition of Nintendo Gamer Magazine according to Eurogamer. Scans featured in the magazine are thought to be the same images seen for console and PC versions – either that or Treyarch has stealthily managed to develop the Wii U version to be on par with other platforms.

We definitely didn’t see this coming and we’re kind of amazed that this didn’t slip out prior to or during E3 2012. What is interesting is that the magazine apparently lists the game for a release in November, meaning that it is very likely that we have a simultaneous release on November 13 for all platforms.

Don’t forget that there will be no problems control wise for the Wii U version either, since the recently announced Wii U Pro Controller should provide the exactly same layout on console as the Xbox 360 and PS3 pads. Just to clarify, this is still unofficial as Activision has yet to comment on the rumors. They are going to have to sooner or later as this has become one of the biggest gaming stories of the week.

Nintendo has said in the past that one of their main aims is to try and ‘win’ back some of the core gamers that they lost from the transition from Gamecube to Wii. What better way to do that than to unleash arguably the most anticipated game of the year. There’s also the little matter of how that touchscreen controller will add that an element of uniqueness to the Wii U version as well.

Imagine if you could take the touchscreen pad away from the TV and set up your weapons and equipment in advance before heading into a match online. We don’t want to get too carried away, but don’t be surprised if the Wii U version ends up with the most functionality compared to the other versions.

Has Nintendo well and truly silenced the doubters if they can pull a Wii U version of Black Ops 2 out of the hat? Let us know your reaction to this bombshell.

It may silence doubters but the version on the Nintendo U wont be much in terms of advanced compared to the Xbox and Playstation versions with regards graphics etc.  The Nintendo is the next gen console yet the xbox and playstation are still current versions.  So once the xbox 720 or Playstation 4 arrives the Nintendo U will look inferior compared to these consoles.  Just find it hard to beleive that Nintendo dont pack as much hardware inder the hood of the U to help keep the console lifespan .
