It looks like Sony’s upcoming PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale game is one that everyone needs to add to their collection. We knew that a PS Vita version of the Sony franchise mash-up game was on the way, but now the company has just officially confirmed this at E3, as well as support for cross-platform play on PS3.
The audience at Sony’s keynote in Los Angeles were treated to a brand trailer for the upcoming game, which also confirmed the inclusion of another two characters into the game. Nathan Drake will be added, which we already knew thanks to prior leaks, but Big Daddy from Bioshock should be a surprise to most of you.
We were a little disappointed that we didn’t see any more characters unveiled, or a live demo of cross-platform play working on the Vita, as that is surely going to be a major selling point for Vita owners planning to buy the game. We’re guessing that this portion isn’t ready for show yet, but we should see some Vita action soon since the game is thought to be coming out this Fall along with the PS3 version.
The prospect of being able to play online with PS3 players direct from your Vita over the PlayStation Network is a mouthwatering prospect for sure. If Sony extends this capability over a 3G Vita connection as well, then imagine the fun you can have whilst away from the home. We’re expecting to see character reveals for Solid Snake and Cole soon, but who else will be joining in on the fun? We saw at Sony’s E3 keynote that Assassin’s Creed 3 will have some exclusive PS3 DLC, so if a deal has been made there, maybe Sony will work to make Connor a playable character in the Battle Royale as well – how about that folks?
For now, check out the latest E3 gameplay below and give us your thoughts on the game. We’re usually not a fan of dubstep music in video games, but we have to say that the track included with this clip is a rather nice pairing. On a side note, check out the amount of YouTube dislikes on this video. Almost 2,000 dislikes now, compared to 600+ likes. Are these from angry Smash Bros fans perhaps?
