Online GTA V air combat multiplayer would require gigantic maps

By Updated on

While all of you are still going crazy on whether or not the main character in GTA V is someone called Chico Vialpando, we have stumbled across something else, which could turn out to be a major feature of the new game.

Many of you who have already picked up Max Payne 3 may want to head back into multiplayer mode as it appears that Rockstar has planted an extremely juicy easter egg in relation to Grand Theft Auto V.

Discovered over at the GTAForums by CantPauseToast, a series of images have been spotted in the game referencing a number of airplanes, some of which bare a distinct resemblance to the same aircraft we saw in November’s GTA V teaser trailer last year. As you’re aware, these models are not playable in Max Payne 3 so Rockstar could have planted them in the game as a shoutout to GTA fans over what’s in store for GTA V.

However, the images appear to show as many as three plane models – one fighter jet, some kind of transport plane and also a private jet. A flashback image provided at the forum shows you that the picture of the private jet seen in Max Payne is very similar to the private jet shown at the end of the GTA V trailer – so what are they doing in Max Payne 3 is the obvious question?

Has Rockstar planted a massive easter egg in the game and basically revealed that GTA V will feature air combat with the use of fighter jets? In previous games, the planes were mainly used for just travel purposes and having fun, but it seems that Rockstar may be planning to use aircraft for a much more serious purpose this time around.

You may argue that there is no need for a GTA game to feature dogfights in the air between two players, but if they perhaps add this as a bonus multiplayer mode, you can see it becoming an instant hit in no time. GTA is known for being a great game to just kill time doing random acts around the city, but imagine just being able to head straight into a 8-way online deathmatch with fighter jets armed with all kinds of weaponry to take down the enemy?

If this is indeed what Rockstar are planning to add into GTA V, then you also have to wonder how big Rockstar are going to have to make their maps in order for this to be possible. All the talk is about what features are going to happen on the ground, but how amazing would it be if Rockstar announce that air combat will play just as big a part in the game. Aside from multiplayer, we’re also imagining missions and rampages where you have to take out a gang leader who has just hopped in his private jet, looking to make a quick escape. The player then gets into a plane of his own and the mission is to take out his private jet for completion.

We could be looking way too much into this, but then again – these pictures may have just opened up something rather special for the upcoming game. Take a look at the images for yourself and tell us – would you love to see air combat in GTA V or not?

Well GTA4 is much bigger than any Battlefield 3 map, which has dogfights between multiple fighter jets….

So size was probably never even an issue to consider.

I love airplains and that but if it was a big percentage the a game, it would really suck. Maybe some air specific side missions would be ok and a couple of main missions. But relying on air combat when there are so many other things to do ground level is just stupid. They will be used more within multiplayer free roam and that’s going to be amazing! ..Also, dogfighting in 3rd person is difficult and not so rewarding.
