When Mass Effect 3 first released the majority of reviews tagged the game as “amazing“, and it received plenty of 9 out of 10 reviews but this had been before all the ending controversy, which some people feel has been taken out of perspective. You can read a little about the distaste with Mass Effect 3′s ending here, and this also includes a few reactions from fans of the franchise.
Mass Effect 3 user scores tell a different story – in most cases when you look at ratings you’ll find professional reviews give high marks, although the user scores are much lower in almost all cases. With Mass Effect 3 it seems the user scores are even lower than normal, and this is obviously related to the ending.
It’s good to have empathy but what can Bioware do to make the fans happy? In our opinion the game is still really good and worth buying, although some people fail to understand the outrage from gamers that spent a lot of money over the years on this franchise. The expectations were high for ME3 and nearly impossible to meet, although the ending could be seen as “provocative, daring, and different“.
How many Mass Effect games have you bought? We’ve noticed a lot of the people unhappy with the ending bought every Mass Effect game, and some gamers point out “too many people bought Mass Effect 3 without playing the previous games“. This resulted in a few million happy gamers, although a lesser number have invested time and money in all the games, which seem to be those unhappy with the ending as well. Feel free to share a comment – does this sound like you?
