PS Vita Game Heaven live stream reminder, expectations

By Updated on

For those of you that have a PS Vita and are wondering when new games are going to be out, let us bring you a brief reminder that Sony will be hosting their ‘Game Heaven’ web broadcast tonight from Japan.

The company has already announced that they will use the event to unveil some brand new PS Vita games that are on the way and considering that they are holding a special event just for this, we’re predicting that the games are going to be some of the biggest seen on the Vita so far.

If you have been keeping an eye on the Game Heaven event, you will have probably read the big rumors earlier this week that suggested that the games to be unveiled may include Monster Hunter Portable 3, Tales of Innocence R, Final Fantasy Type-0 ‘HD’ and even a brand new Grand Theft Auto game rumored to be called GTA: Vice City Nights.

There has been no additional information on the four games as of yet, but we have a sneaky suspicion that the information may turn out to be true. The games mentioned seem like inevitable choices for the PS Vita down the line anyway, so even if we do not see them announced later on today, we’re sure they will come sooner or later – it would be something of a crime if we don’t see Final Fantasy and GTA on the Vita after all.

For those of you who are interested in tuning in to the event, you’ll want to know that it starts at 8PM Japan Time, which is 7pm Hong Kong time, 11am UK time and 6am US time. You’ll be pleased to know that there’s a live stream too which you can check out here. As usual, we’ll let you know what the major announcements are following on from the event and our thoughts on the new games that are unveiled.

If you are planning to tune into the event, let us know what games you would like to see. GTA, Monster Hunter, Tekken, Breath of Fire? Maybe we will see some exciting new apps announced as well, hopefully they include some of these. The list of possibilities are endless – we can’t wait.

       Where is this live stream?

The only blog that seemed to cover the event was Kotaku. Based on what I saw, it sucked. Totally underwhelming. No Monster Hunter, No Final Fantasy of any kind, lame. The only ok, addition was Metal Gear HD collection which is no surprise. Phantasy Star Online 2 for Vita is ok I guess but it’s not due until 2013, in Japan, so who (in the west) cares? The initial launch line up was good for the Vita but it’s looking really thin for the coming months. Maybe I should have bought a 3DS instead. At least I would have Resident Evil and a new Monster Hunter are definitely coming.

Last night, Sony Japan launched a series of videos demoing and
revealing upcoming titles for the PS Vita, as part of a one-off video
feature series called “PS Vita Game Heaven.” Here’s a breakdown of the
titles in attendance, alongside their Japanese video counterparts.

Phantasy Star Online 2 will make its way to the Vita in 2013,
with players able to interact with and use their characters from the PC
    version across the two platforms.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will launch on the Vita in
Japan June 28th, and will come to the west sometime this summer. The
video demonstration showed off some of the uses of the Vita’s rear
touchscreen, such as zooming in and out with binoculars, changing
weapons or focusing on different elements during cutscenes.

Some new features in Persona 4: The Golden — a Vita
remastering of the original PS2 RPG — were revealed by producer Katsura
Hashino. The title, which was given a Japanese launch date of June 14th in a trailer released earlier yesterday, will feature some form of co-op play, though Hashino did not go into specifics.

Gundam Seed Battle Destiny will be released in Japan on June
7th, a bit later than its original late March launch window. There’s no
word yet on a western release.

Ex-Capcom developer Keiji Inafune teased information on his Vita
project, which he teased even more during GDC yesterday. In the video
below, Infaune mentions that the game is “amazing,” but perhaps more
descriptively, “Inafune-like.” Robots and zombies, then?

Sony and Kadokawa Games teased a title called Project Discovery,
details about which are as scarce as scarce can be. The video below
shows that the title will be heavily dependent on user-generated content
    — other than that, we’re totally in the dark. The game’s website says Project Discovery is coming soon in 2012.

Finally, a trailer reel showed off even more footage from Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, Persona 4: The Golden, Gundam Seed Battle Destiny and FIFA Soccer.
