While the announcement of the HTC One X was met with a lot of enthusiasm since it will be HTC’s first ever quad-core smartphone, there were also a few groans at the same time once consumers realized that it will be another handset which will be littered with HTC’s custom UI features via Sense.
With that in mind, allow us to share with you the latest rumor that is going around, suggesting that not only will T-Mobile be picking up the device upon release, but that their version will also offer a stock Ice Cream Sandwich experience.
A new HTC smartphone with Sense seems too good to be true you’re probably thinking, but the guys over at Android and Me have taken it for granted that this is happening. The handset will be exclusive to AT&T initially as you’re probably aware, but once the handset does become available elsewhere, it could be T-Mobile that has the best version with stock ICS. Who knows, we may be even seeing this on T-Mobile as the G4X if we follow previous patterns with the LG Optimus 2X, the first dual-core phone which arrived on T-Mobile as the G2X.
How important is stock Ice Cream Sandwich to you? Personally speaking, I don’t really have many complaints about HTC Sense UI as long as the core nuts and bolts of the device work just fine, I’m easily pleased. Devoted Android fans may not feel the same way though, as there is huge interest whenever the words stock and Android come together in the same sentence.
There was a big commotion when the Galaxy Nexus launched on Verizon when users found out that it still contained some custom Verizon apps, and wasn’t the pure Ice Cream Sandwich experience that the ‘Nexus’ name suggested and like what we had seen with the Nexus S before it. Nobody knows for sure how much customization will be present when HTC launch the device with Sense on AT&T, but at least T-Mobile may be offering customers another option.
Would you make the drastic step and switch carrier to T-Mobile if they offered the One X with stock Ice Cream Sandwich? We’ve added a video below, offering some tips on making your Ice Cream Sandwich experience as fast as possible which you may find useful.
