It seems that we have been reporting on an awful lot of deals this week, mostly for those associated with the upcoming Sony PS Vita launch in Europe and US. Now though, we have news of a fantastic deal for those of you looking to pick up the PC version of Bioware’s upcoming EA shooter Mass Effect 3.
It turns out that those of you buying the game direct from EA’s digital distribution store Origin will get a free copy of Battlefield 3 in return, no questions asked. EA has priced the pre-order of Mass Effect 3 at $59.99 and that price will also get you two exclusive pre-order weapons to use, one of which you can only obtain by buying the game from Origin – real nice EA.

The weapons in question are the M55 Argus Assault Rifle, and the Origin only AT-12 Raider Shotgun. On the whole this is a pretty amazing deal we have to say, as you won’t need us to tell you how good Battlefield 3 is. There are a few fine print details that you need to be aware of before you jump straight into a purchase.
Firstly, we’re sad to say that this deal is only available to gamers in the US and Canada and applies to the PC version of Battlefield 3 only, so don’t be thinking that your Mass Effect 3 order will get you a Xbox 360 or PS3 version of BF3. Secondly, this deal is only valid if you don’t already have a digital copy of Battlefield 3 already. If you do, then you won’t able to take advantage of this, but if you have a boxed copy you should be able to get a second digital copy just fine.
You’ll also need to be aware that this deal is available for a limited time only, as the offer will close on March 5th, 2012. EA has stated that those who do pre-order Mass Effect 3 on Origin within the dates will receive their codes to download Battlefield 3 for free by March 8th. The only other gripe that goes without saying is that you’ll need to install Origin on your system and make do without Steam for your Mass Effect 3 purchase.
We don’t really see the problem with running Origin though and if they keep offering free games like this, then it can only mean good things for the consumer. Let us know your thoughts on this offer and if you now intend to install Origin for this.
