It has become pretty common in recent times for retailers to let slip release dates for smartphones or other tech products, which coincide with other leaks from various sources. Now we have news of new iPad 3 reports that hint at new specs and a release date for the device.
There have been a few reports recently suggesting that the iPad 3 will be released sometime in March, and now it seems Amazon France has strengthened the March rumor. According to a report on Gamezone the retailer has possibly leaked the launch of the device in the form of iPad manuals and help books.
Amazon won’t actually be selling the device but will be offering help books, and have recently listed two iPad 3 books via its online catalog. The Amazon listing has the iPad 3 help manuals for publication on March 29th 2012. A number of sources have speculated that the new iPad will be arriving in March after the company began production, which is supposed to reach full pelt this month.
The French version of the Amazon retailer has listed publications in the past though that never saw the light of day. Meanwhile an article over at BGR is reporting that a source claims to be in the ownership of an iPad 3 prototype. They have provided images of the next version of the iPad that show data when using a debug tool called iBoot.
There are the model numbers J1 and J2 which hint at iPad 3,1 and iPad 3,2, which doesn’t mean two different devices just the Wi-Fi only model and one that is embedded with GSM/CDMA/LTE. This means compatibility for all carriers. The images also feature confirmation that the next iPad will be using the A6 chip that has the model number S5L8945X.
This compares to the A4 model that used the S5L8930X number, while the A5 has the S5L8940X prefix. Again it is being claimed that the iPad 3 A6 processor will be quad-core, which will mean it will be the quickest iOS device so far.
Do you think the iPad 3 needs to be using a quad-core processor?
