We have a great video to show you now, which touts some of the remote play features that the PS Vita has when paired up alongside the PS3. Unfortunately though, the games on show are only possible with a hacked PS3 console, but the ending result is nothing short of mouth-watering.
PS3 Remote Play functionality with a PS Vita system isn’t by any means an unofficial feature though just to be clear. Sony has already showed off titles such as Killzone 3 and Little Big Planet 2 being streamed to a Vita using Remote Play, but thanks to a PS3 running a hacked 3.55 firmware, we have now seen other titles running on the Vita as well.
There’s some huge names as well. YouTube user Homer49 has uploaded a series of videos to YouTube showing Battlefield 3, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Mortal Kombat and Red Dead Redemption all running on the PS Vita via Remote Play on the PS3. While there are clear signs of a few latency issues, the games appear to run fine, and they all look rather fantastic on Sony’s new handheld as well.
Battlefield 3 is obviously the most luxurious title to be seen running on the PS Vita but remember, any game is theoretically possible since the technology is just streaming video from the PS3 to the Vita, with the bonus of being able to map out a control layout on the Vita. Hopefully Sony will make this an official feature in the future and we will all be able to play the majority of PS3 games on the Vita without any problems. Online support would be fantastic too on the Vita, but we would just like to see Sony confirm a new list of Remote Play titles on the Vita for the time being.
How do you feel seeing the likes of Battlefield 3 and Mortal Kombat running on the Vita? It seems a no brainer in terms of sales potential for Sony to make this an official feature sometime this year. Make it happen Sony.
