It is pretty obvious that Apple will probably launch a new iPad in the not too distant future regardless of what rumors and speculation hits the internet. The company normally updates its products within a year, and this has led to increased rumors in the last few weeks but not all reports are reliable. Now someone is claiming to have supposedly seen the iPad 3 in the wild.
As you may be aware the CES event is ongoing over in Las Vegas, and Jeremy Horwitz from iLounge has claimed he got the chance to see what could be the iPad 3 close up. He claims the version that he saw wasn’t much different from the current iPad, and even said from a distance you couldn’t tell them apart.
He said it is comparable with the iPhone 4 and 4S that are physically almost identical, but did spot a few things of interest. It looks like the iPad 3 camera is larger than the current model, and about the same size to the shooter found on the iPhone 4S but without the flash.
The screen looked to be the same size as the iPad 2, and although he didn’t see the screen powered on he still believes it to be a Retina display. There have been numerous rumors suggesting the next screen on the iPad will be thicker to make room for a dual LED backlight, but if it was it would only be about a millimeter.
Horwitz does stress that the product he saw may not be the iPad 3, and it could easily be an iPad 2S or something similar. He also says that the device he saw wasn’t a brand new product and could have been six months old, which can be expected given the amount of development time that goes into a product.
Last year the same website was the first to show images of an almost finished iPad 2, and this year many believe we will see similar upgrades to the device with better image quality and improved camera.
