While we know that a new Call of Duty game is definitely on the way this year, the prospect of this game being called Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is still very much up for debate. However, some new evidence this week suggests that Treyarch may be planning to immediately follow-up on the phenomenally successful Black Ops with a new game.
Fans now have more reason to believe that Black Ops 2 is coming than ever before, since we can tell you that Activison has now purchased and secured the domain name for Black Ops 2, as detailed by Fusible. You can check it out for yourself here if you’re interested (shows nothing), as the domain leads back to a company called MarkMonitor, who have handled other domains by Activision in the past.
It could just be a safe marker by Activision to grab the domain before anyone else, or it could be the first strong sign that a follow-up sequel is coming. There has been a lot of talk that Sledgehammer Games will now be developing their own Call of Duty game in 2012 after working with Infinity Ward for Modern Warfare 3, but then again Treyarch has always been there with a game every two years so it would be strange to break the tradition if they are not featuring in the next Call of Duty game.
We have to reserve a mention for ‘Iron Wolf’ as well, since most of you will be aware that this is the codename that has been attached to the new Call of Duty game, after screenshots seemingly revealed staff were already testing the game on Xbox Live.
Would you like to see Black Ops 2 release this year, or would you prefer to see a brand new Call of Duty offering a completely new experience? A lot of people are not happy with MW3, with many still preferring to play Black Ops instead. If Black Ops 2 is coming, what would you like to see from Treyarch?
