Huge BF3 patch update planned, list of balance changes for accessories

Today’s biggest game developers know how important it is to listen to consumer feedback to improve their products, EA DICE is no exception to this and recently the company’s core gameplay designer, Alan Kertz, submitted a huge post to Reddit where he talks about upcoming changes to Battlefield 3. Sadly we don’t have a release date for this patch – we thought we would let you know that before you get your hopes up.

You can see his post for yourself here, basically Kerts feels that there are lots of elements of the game which need tweaking, especially accessories. At the moment he thinks that certain accessories are much preferred to others, therefore they will be nerfed in an attempt to convince people to try different accessories and improve balance. Before we go on we must clearly state that Kertz has not 100% sure what changes will be made to the game, but at least some things that are being considered.

Firstly Kertz is making sure that an unmodified weapon offers the best balance in terms of accuracy, recoil and stealth – which basically means that when you start adding attachments it will have a negative affect on some aspects of a gun, whilst adding the extra functionality which that attachment offers. Alan goes into great detail in regards to just how different attachments will positively and negatively affect a weapon over at Reddit – below we have listed the what’s set to change with specific accessories:

Foregrip
+34% reduction in horizontal recoil (adjust based on gun)
-20% penalty to base accuracy when aimed

Bipod
+Reduction in horizontal and vertical recoil (% depends on gun type)
+Reduction in dispersion (% depends on gun type/ammo type)
-Has to be setup to get the benefit

Suppressor
+Does not appear on minimap when firing.
+Reduces sound and visual muzzle signature
-Reduced range for both min and max, damage stays the same.
-50% penalty to base accuracy from the hip
+25% bonus to base accuracy when aimed
+10% reduced vertical recoil

Heavy Barrel
+Increased maximum range, damage stays the same.
-25% increased dispersion per shot
+50% bonus to base accuracy when aimed
-25% penalty to base accuracy from the hip

Flash Suppressor
+Reduces visual muzzle signature
+20% reduced vertical recoil
-20% penalty to base accuracy from the hip

Target Pointer
-Visible Laser
+Laser can dazzle opponents
+33% increase in base accuracy from the hip

As you can see there are so many proposed changes, we wanted to present the details in an easy-to-read manner,however check out the link to Reddit in this post’s second paragraph for full information regarding the rationale behind such changes.     they really need to fix some other things before they keep changing the guns. the main thing being how walls dont seem to pick up the lower half of a persons body while they are prone. this lets them hide behind things that they shouldnt be. another thing being the indestructable anti air turret that is on some maps (the one on the boat on kharg island). the guns are fine the way they are for the most part.

      What are you referring to about the walls issue? If you’ve noticed recently, soldiers actually stick out of walls, I’ve killed a few people by shooting at their feet or backs.

      Also, the AA turrets are there for a reason, to prevent aerial spawn rape. They’re indestructible so the enemy air vehicles don’t hover around your base and prevent anything from taking off.

    Oh yay gun balance! What about fixes for things like black loading screen bug and other major game breaking bugs. But by all means balance the guns on a game that thousands of people still cant play.

    Whats with the HD content pack for console users? I know its a PC game first but why not make it console friendly if your going to release it for consoles.

    I’ve said it many many times…but if they want to nerf…they should set up the nerfing as a server choice, just as you would choose hardcore…

    This way, those who don’t, won’t or can’t play the game the way it was created can shoot marshmallows and C4 and Claymores can blow up into confetti….without affecting the ENTIRE community for a few.

    It’s about [b]gaining fans[/b] not [i]losing[/i] them…right?
