Droid 4 accessories, CES 2012 and release theories

By Updated on

Prior to the Galaxy Nexus launching on Verizon, many consumers believed that they would have the choice of choosing between the Galaxy Nexus and the Motorola Droid 4, another handset on Verizon which was heavily rumored to be launching at the same time.

However, that didn’t happen and the latest reports are suggesting that Verizon customers may have to wait until February to get their hands on the device. The Droid 4 perhaps isn’t as glamorous as the Galaxy Nexus, but it does contain one vital feature that many consumers still prioritize when buying a new smartphone – a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

There’s possibly no manufacturer that does it better at the moment for delivering QWERTY sliders with their smartphones, and Motorola will shortly announce their newest lineup to the Droid family with the Motorola Droid 4. But when it will arrive exactly remains to be seen, as February is just an indication and in true Verizon fashion we have had no official details released as of yet.

What we can say though on the positive side of things, is that the Motorola Droid 4 is definitely coming soon to Verizon. This is evident in the fact that accessories have now started to appear at retail stores, and you can check out some images of Droid 4 cases in some images provided by Droid-Life here. It looks like you’ll be able to show off your Droid 4 in a variety of colors thanks to bumper style cases, but we’re guessing that Motorola will release the phone in traditional black and white colors.

On a side note, there is growing speculation that Motorola could use CES 2012 as the event to finally unveil this device to the public. If you remember back to CES 2010, Motorola had everyone talking with the announcement and unveiling of the 4G LTE Droid Bionic, which still continues to be a popular choice on Verizon right now. It would make sense for Motorola to bring the Droid 4 to CES, especially if the device is on course for a release in February.

Have you held off from a Galaxy Nexus purchase to wait for the Droid 4? Are you expecting to see the device at CES 2012 or not?
