When you write about technology news on a daily basis you often hear of new gadgets which really excite you, today whilst checking out Engadget we came across a new product which is made by Shogun Bros. This is the Chameleon X-1 and not only is it a pretty decent gaming mouse, but it also doubles up as a gamepad.
Two branded flavors of this mouse will apparently debut at CES 2012 (‘Altair white’ and ‘Ezio grey’), however ignoring the aesthetics they are identical to the Chameleon X-1 units currently available from ShogunBros.com. The X-1 is wireless and comes with a tiny receiver which can be stored within the mouse when your not using it, when used as a mouse you have 1600dpi of accuracy at your disposal (which is adjustable), 7 buttons and a scroll wheel, it runs of a single AA battery, but sadly can’t be plugged in via USB to be used or charged.
To use the X-1 as a gamepad simply flip the mouse over and you will see plenty of buttons at your disposal and two analog sticks, this side of the mouse also doubles up as a media player remote / pointing device for Powerpoint. Below we have embedded images showing the new Altair white and Ezio grey variants, as you can see the product is very intuitive and well-designed, but ergonomically it is by no means a replacement for a mid to high-end gaming mouse or gamepad.
We have no hands-on time with this mouse, therefore we can’t really say much more about it, however if you are attending CES 2012 we are sure that the guys at Shogun Bros will let you try it out, if you are impressed why not leave us a comment below. We think it would be ideal for gamers on the go – do you?
