Kindle Fire gets possible UK release date, not in time for Xmas

By Updated on

The tablet market has all been about the Amazon Kindle Fire in recent weeks following its launch in the US. The device has been seen as the first affordable alternative to Apple’s all conquering iPad. Now we have news that the Kindle Fire gets a possible UK release date, but it is not in time for Xmas though.

A source has told Know Your Mobile that Amazon’s new tablet PC will be arriving in the country, after the retailer has remained quiet about any possibility of the device hitting the UK. This comes after other reports suggested the Kindle Fire would never make it to the country.

The source is claiming the device will be released to UK consumers during January 2012, which is surprising as we are now well into the busy Christmas period for retailers. There is no news on pricing but you would have thought the company will be using the same competitive pricing the US is seeing with the tablet PC.

Analysts have already predicted the Kindle Fire will account for fifty percent of the Android tablet market during 2012. This would mean the device being released around the world to achieve this, and could see other Amazon services being released to coincide with the Kindle Fire launch in the country. Hopefully the device will be priced at below £200 for consumers as well.

There have been rumors previously that Apple are thinking of launching a cheaper iPad to meet the threat of more affordable Android tablets such as the Kindle Fire. Will you get the Amazon Kindle Fire when it launches in your region?
