Battlelog for iOS: Release date update, iOS will get it before Android

By Updated on

We have some brief information for those of you who are patiently waiting for EA to release their promised Battlelog app for iOS and Android devices. If you happen to own an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch it looks like you’ll be first in line to get an official app for EA’s Battlefield 3 stats tracking service.

A mobile version of Battlelog has been in high demand since EA launched Battlefield 3 on October 25. We still do not have any sign of an official release date from EA unfortunately, but the official Battlefield Twitter account has dropped some important news for iOS users, and perhaps disappointing news for Android users.

According to EA, the Battlelog app will first release on iOS and this ‘may’ be followed up afterwards by a release on other mobile operating systems. Here is a Tweet from the Battlefield page according to MP1ST:

“iOS will see it soon. Android, Blackberry, and Windows may see it yet in the future.”

Android users will definitely not enjoy seeing that ‘may’ in the Tweet above, as that implies that iOS is taking the main focus and it could be a while until the app releases on Android devices. Having said that, if the worst comes to the worst we could even be seeing some unofficial apps developed in the meantime if some impatient developers decide that the wait has been too long.

Meanwhile, a further update on the official iOS Battlelog app was posted by EA on Twitter just a few days ago, as they had this to say when asked by a fan when Battlelog for iOS will be available:

”@parthgang I’m told you will see an iOS Battlelog app in the near future! Stand by! ^JT”

So there’s the brief update, good news if you have an iPhone but not so good if you are running on Android at the moment. What are your thoughts on the potential exclusivity for iOS? The standard Battlelog service on PC and Mac is excellent at the moment, so we can’t wait to see how it handles in mobile form. Stay tuned for further updates.

They should just make a mobile site rather than an app
