We have some interesting rumors to share with PlayStation 3 owners now, as one particular story involving the PlayStation creator and ex-Sony CEO Ken Kutaragi is the source of many whispers online that the ‘father of PlayStation’ may be working on Sony’s upcoming PlayStation 4.
That story comes from GamesThirst who has quoted the legendary man as saying that he is currently working on a ‘brand new project’ which is ‘totally cool’. As you can imagine, if the creator of PlayStation says anything like that heads are obviously bound to start thinking if he is talking about the next-generation PlayStation console.
At the moment, Kutaragi remains a ‘senior technology advisor’ at Sony after leaving his position as Honorary Chairman of the company earlier on this year, and with it any form of active role inside Sony. Kaz Hirai now takes the reigns as his replacement, but could Sony be planning to use the services of Kutaragi once again for their upcoming console?
Obviously this is a very thin rumor and it could be a completely different project which is unrelated to any new piece of Sony hardware. Millions of gaming fans though hope that this is the first clue behind the PlayStation 4 project, so we’ll have to see what happens. Is it also a coincidence that this story has surfaced on the back of countless Xbox ‘720’ rumors?
It was only a few days ago when we told you that Sony were planning to release their next generation PlayStation console around the same time as their competitors, choosing not to repeat the same tactic which saw the PlayStation 3 release one year later than the Xbox 360. We asked you then for your thoughts on the possibility of Sony and Microsoft releasing their next-generation consoles at exactly the same time.
What are your thoughts on Kutaragi’s mystery new project? Do you think it is the first PlayStation 4 clue or something completely different?
