This month marks the start of the winter season and while keeping up with the amount of great video game titles that have been released in the previous two months, we are having to overlook December as scheduling has already begun for games in 2012. One game that has just been given a confirmed 2012 release date is the third-person thriller from Konami, NeverDead.
The publisher announced yesterday that the game will be released January 31st next year in the US and February 3rd in Europe on both the Xbox 360 and the PS3. NeverDead was first announced back in June and up until now the release date was simply given as some point in the winter. The game is being developed by Rebellion Software, the team that brought us Alien vs. Predator, but is in fact the innovation of Shinta Nojiri of Konami.
Players take the role of main character Bryce Boltzmann, an immortal, wise-cracking demon hunter. The game revolves around this hero and his partner Arcadia as they embark on their quest of demonic incursions to prevent invasion. Bryce, who was cursed by a demon king with his immortality 500 years ago, is happy to hunt demons for revenge as well as money. The fact that the character cannot be killed, or if you prefer is ‘never dead’, also adds an element of comedy as Konami explains.
Even if Bryce is torn limb from limb he can continue to plough on, using the detached parts as weapons if he chooses or he can simply reattach the missing parts back to his body. The comedy factor comes as even as a detached head he can roll around attaching the rest of his parts. You can check out the official website for NeverDead where you will find trailers and other news about the upcoming game. Does this seem like a game you will be interested in playing next year?
