We have reported on many great educational applications here on Product Reviews, as developers come up with more ingenious ideas to help us teach our children. Today we have news on one that has been recently updated, which helps diagnose reading difficulties and beginners helped with an iPhone app.
Reading Remedies 2.3 is a universal application that is also available for owners of the iPod Touch and iPad, which will help you diagnose areas of potential reading difficulty. It will also provide support for young readers who are just starting to learn. The application will provide parents and teachers assessments and activities in six different reading areas.
These include blending, fluency, segmenting, rhyming, word attack, and more. This application has been created by a full time literacy coach and reading intervention teacher, Mathew Needleman. This latest update has been released to enhance content and functionality, and now will automatically add up user’s scores.
Users are also given tips on how to support reading students who may need extra help in any of the areas. Reading Remedies has already featured in the “what’s hot” for the education category by Apple, as well as the New and Noteworthy. The follow up activates will teach specific skills in each area, and there are also complete lists of common prefixes, sight words, suffixes, and vowel combinations.
Many people who have already downloaded the application have given it much praise including school teachers. Reading Remedies 2.3 is available worldwide on the App Store for only $0.99/£0.69. iOS 4.3 or later required.
