We have some good news for those of you who are planning to pick up Sony’s upcoming PlayStation Vita handheld aka the PSP2, as the company has just announced a full first-party title lineup for next year’s launch, as well as a partial list of third-party games from other developers as well.
As you’re probably well aware, the PlayStation Vita will go on sale this year on December 17, but only to those living in Japan. Fans in Europe and the US will have to wait until February 22nd, but at least now you can feast your eyes on what games are coming at launch in the meantime.
We can tell you that there will be 11 first-party titles that Sony will make available at launch, with arguably the pick of the bunch being Uncharted: Golden Abyss and MotorStorm RC. We’ve already had a little sneak gameplay preview of Uncharted back in September and we can personally say that the game is looking very good indeed, with the added control scheme on the PS Vita using the motion touchpad providing a whole new experience that players won’t have felt on the PS3.
While Sony’s first party titles are decent at best, the real meat comes with the vast collection of third party titles available, although when exactly these will come after launch is the big question on everyone’s minds. There are some great games to look forward to, including Mortal Kombat (could be titled ‘ Vitality), FIFA, Final Fantasy X, Street Fighter X Tekken, Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3, a Call of Duty game from Activision!, Assassin’s Creed and Ninja Gaiden.
We can’t wait to see Final Fantasy X remade in HD for the Vita and PS3, so we hope Square-Enix spends a good while on it making sure the new version is perfect, as it would be a great shame if it were to be below-par, considering how many gamers treasure the PS2 original. There’s little details on the Call of Duty game coming either, but that’s obviously bound to be very popular when it comes out – imagine an online multiplayer mode similar to the console experience on the PS Vita – pretty mouthwatering stuff. Our standout game though to look out for is DUST 514 – we predict big things for this game when it launches on Vita and PS3, stay tuned for more details on this as we get it.
Below is a full list of Sony games coming out, as well as a partial list of third-party games coming out, courtesy of Eurogamer. Let us know if you are planning to splash the cash on a Vita and which game you intend to get from this list.
