Skyrim cheats: Infinite XP and Gold guide – Fun spoiling secrets

If you are having difficulty accumulating some of that hard-earned gold in Skyrim, you may be interested to know that there are several tricks to try out which potentially enables an ‘infinite gold’ cheat in the game. We have video showing evidence of this, and also another video showing you how to get infinite XP.

We would recommend you trying out this method to get some more cash, especially since it can be hard to come by if you don’t have the know-how, but as for the infinite XP trick, we would say that it is more of a bug than anything and may ruin the enjoyment factor of leveling up normally and getting that personal satisfaction as you do so.

Firstly, let’s talk about getting infinite gold in Skyrim. One video we have for you shows you how to can trick the game into giving you gold at will, although you will need to travel a bit to get this working as it only works in one particular location of the Skyrim universe. Starting off at Winterhold, you’ll need to get yourself to an altar located near the peak of the snowy mountains, either by horse or unlimited Sprint – how to get there is shown in the video below. Once there, you’ll find a skeleton standing on top of the altar, along with a book, a shield and a pair of boots. Instead of picking up the Doors of Oblivion book, just pick up the boots and shield and you’ll see the skeleton and several others spring to life, which you’ll then have to deal with obviously.

Once you have killed them all, remember where the body of the main skeleton is, save your game and then look what it has to loot. You’ll see that he possess that Book of Oblivion, and if you keep pressing cancel and select over and over, you’ll see that the book generates each time, offering a unlimited supply, which in-turn offers an unlimited supply of gold once you sell them. This is obviously pretty time consuming, but it is a neat little trick if you ever find yourself short of gold in game.

As for infinite XP, a video provided by Game Informer reveals a similar trick in which you can get as much XP as desired by taking advantage of another Bethesda glitch. You’ll need the Oghma Infinium book which you get by completing the Hermaeus Mora daedric quest, and here are the quick steps below as stated on various online boards:

1. Get the Oghma Infinium book by completing the Hermaeus Mora daedric quest.
2. Go to your bookshelf, and with the book in your possession, activate the shelf.
3. Instead of storing the book, press the triggers to read it from your menu screen. Choose any of the three paths.
4. Back out one screen (to your book inventory), then store the book on the shelf.
5. Back out of the menu completely, and target the book on the shelf. Confirm the “Read Oghma Infinium” option.
6. Don’t actually read it here! when it brings up the paths again, just choose “do not read.” Then, just take the book off the shelf.
7. Go back to step 2 and repeat as often as desired.

Again, this is a pretty cheap method of leveling up very fast, and we don’t really recommend it if you value personal enjoyment of leveling up the normal way. However, if you are looking to max stat a particular character for the fun of it, then this little trick will certainly come in handy. Try out both methods now and let us know if they worked for you. With the spell Muffle you can cast it repeatedly to gain experience for alteration. Also the spell soul trap can be cast on a dead foe to raise the level of conjuration. And finally you can take the spell equilibrium and equip it with healing and use both in order to increase restoration magic level. All of these can be done as much as you please and will gain you levels fairly quickly.

I tried the Oghma Infinium exploit – and it worked a treat, except I could only read it once per set of bookshelves before that bookshelf became completely unusable, so I couldn’t add books to them any more, or use the Oghma on them again. Still, I had quite a few bookshelves in my 2 houses – none of which work any longer!

The bookshelf still says ‘Activate Bookshelf’ when you hover over it, but nothing happens when you click it. However, even with this limitation, it’s an awesome tool for quick Skills/XP … I’m currently looking for another house in which I can destroy lots of shelves!

As was mentioned placing it on a bookshelf makes the shelf unusable.  Plus any other books that may be on it become “locked” on the shelf.  the way around it is simply to do the listed steps with a chest, it works fine then.

Another “unlimited” thing I have found is this.  Once you have the house in Solitude, and a set of dragon armor, store it on one of the mannequins in the downstairs.  Go out and adventure for a bit, then come back and take the armor off and drop it on the floor.  After that each time you come in the house regens a new set of armor on the dummy.  Unlimited piles of dragon armor.
