The quad-core smartphone stakes are really hotting up now. After informing you about the HTC Edge which is rumored to be the first quad-core phone on the market, we have another one to tell you about. Introducing to you for the first time, the HTC Zeta, which could be an early look at the most impressive phone of 2012 in terms of hardware capabilities.
To give you a quick refresh of the HTC Edge, it is rumored to be featuring impressive specs such as a quad-core 1.5Ghz Tegra 3 processor, Ice Cream Sandwich, an 8 megapixel rear camera, 1GB of RAM and a whopping 4.7-inch display screen.
Now then, Engadget has gotten hold of a render showing the new contender to the scene – the HTC Zeta. This beast apparently packs a quad-core 2.5Ghz processor, a 4.5-inch 720p HD display screen, 1GB of RAM, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 1830 mAh battery as some of its key features. Naturally, this has also been listed as an Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 handset, and following on from the Rezound and HTC Edge, it will also be Beats Audio compatible as well.
Obviously these are very early rumors at this point, so you should treat his with a huge pint of salt for now until we gather more intel. Having said that, that render below is pretty mouthwatering and its obviously a significantly different design approach for a HTC handset if there is any accuracy to it. Would you dig a HTC handset looking something like this, or do you prefer their usual rounded-edge phones? Dare we say it, it even has a touch of Microsoft’s design similarities for a few of their Window Phone 7 handsets, do you think so as well?
It’s the specs that we should really focus on now though, as suddenly a dual-core 1.2Ghz processor like the one featured on the highly popular Galaxy Nexus feels oh so inadequate with the imminent influx of quad-core handsets due to hit the market next year. Would you buy the HTC Zeta based on this picture alone?
