Best printers for 2011: Holiday gift idea

By Updated on

Carrying on with our Holiday gift ideas we thought we would now take a look at the best printers for 2011. I have lost count how many times a friend or family member has asked for me to print something off for them. It does get annoying after a while, as they say they do not need one – yes because they have mine, and it doesn’t happen to just me.

Maybe it’s time for them to get one, but we know that they will never go out and purchase one themselves. However, you know that you have to get them a gift, so why not make life easier for yourself and save them asking you all the time. Below you will see a selection of printers, which will make the perfect gift for Christmas – who knows you may get them on a deal with Black Friday being so close now?

First up we have the Canon PIXMA MX882, which is a wireless All-in-One Printer. If you are looking for a printer that offers fast speeds with superb quality, then this is for you. The price may be a little much for a Christmas gift, but not if they are a close family member. What we like about the MX882 is the 5 separate ink cartridges, because you are not always going to use all the colors at the same time. Prices may vary, but Staples is expected to offer a great deal on this in the coming weeks.

For those looking for something a little cheaper, then maybe you should consider the HP DJ-1051 All-in-1 Printer. With this model all you get is the basics, such as print, scan and copy, which to us is just about enough for most homes. Okay, so it does not offer wireless printing, but if your computer is next to your router or you have Apple’s Wireless Express device, then you will have no such issue. Walmart will be letting this item go for less than $20 soon, so keep an eye out for that.

Moving back up the price scale once again, we had to mention the HP PS6510, which is an E-All-in-One Color Inkjet printer. Now some of you may be put off by the boxy look, it’s as if the original Motorola Droid has met up with a HP printer. Having said that, this device will do all of what’s asked of it. We assume that it will support AirPrint, but you will need to double-check that. Many retailers will be trying to sell this for you at the best price very soon, but for us Target looks to be the best at the moment, so check their website in a just over a weeks time.

How can we look at a few printer gift ideas without mentioning a laser printer? One model that comes to mind is the Brother HL-2280DW. Although the initial set up is more than an inkjet, the savings will be far greater for those who do large print runs at a time. Don’t be frightened about something a little different here, if the person you are buying the gift for does a lot of printing then you should consider this one for them – well if you are prepared to spend the kind of money that Staples is selling it for?

The final printer that we believe will make a perfect gift this Christmas is the Kodak 2150SE 4-in-1. This model not only prints, scans and copies but also has a fax facility as well. One of the best features of this printer is the ability to print direct from your mobile device. Don’t worry about paying over the odds on this one, as Walmart is about to offer you a great deal.

These are just five of a huge list of printers; we just thought we would give you a sample of some of the better choices over the holiday season. If you would like some more ideas on other products, then visit our 2011 gift guide.

Great idea thinking of printers as a gift! It’s not really a traditional thing but everyone needs a printer nowadays. You can find great printers at a reasonable cost when they’re on special :P
