For those of you planning to buy a Droid RAZR from Verizon in the next few days, you are probably a bit concerned at the overall battery life that the RAZR can handle, since Motorola has built the phone in a way that you cannot remove the battery.
That alone is pretty disappointing for those that like to purchase extended batteries so that they swap batteries freely whenever they wish to. That won’t be possible on the Droid RAZR, since the device is now one of the thinnest smartphones on the market.
It’s not the end of the world though, as Motorola has attempted to diffuse the concerns over battery life with their new app called Smart Actions. This app will allow you to designate tasks to your phone, such as telling the phone which apps to load up when you boot up the device, and switching off settings and apps on the phone that you won’t use on a daily basis.
Motorola has released a video introducing Droid RAZR owners to their Smart Actions app, and during the video we see Motorola claim that switching off a certain amount of tasks using the app can result in a battery life increase of 30% – which is obviously pretty impressive if it works like Motorola says it does.
One feature of Smart Actions that Droid RAZR users will find particularly handy, is that you can tell the app to lower your brightness settings whenever your battery life gets low. It is a simple feature for sure, but if it grants a small increase in battery life without the user noticing a few lower levels of brightness, then we can tell it is going be a favorite with consumers.
Watch the video below and then let us know what you think of Smart Actions. How worried are you that the Droid RAZR doesn’t let you remove the battery?
Update: If you require further information on the Droid RAZR, you’ll be pleased to know that Verizon has now set up an official product page here, allowing you to purchase the device direct, and check out other useful information including a 360 degrees view of the device.
