In light of all the developmental efforts on porting Apple’s prized Siri software to devices other than the iPhone 4S, we can inform you that Apple has now issued a statement, reminding everybody that Siri is strictly for the iPhone 4S only.
You can bet that the company are well aware of recent attempts to get Siri operational on the iPhone 4, although they have obviously been powerless to prevent such measures, evident in the fact that Siri is now up and running on the iPhone 3GS as well.
Apple recently sent an email to a developer regarding Siri, and here is what their engineering department said, courtesy of 9to5Mac who obtained a copy of the email:
”Engineering has provided the following feedback regarding this issue:Siri only works on iPhone 4S and we currently have no plans to support older devices.”
So for those of you hoping for an official version of Siri on the iPhone 4, prepare yourself for the reality that it is probably never going to happen. Why would they when Siri is a prime reason for Apple’s iPhone 4S sales? The only alternative of course is to jailbreak your handset and wait for developers to release a public download for a Siri port. Doing so though will void your warranty with Apple so most of you may just bite the bullet and buy the iPhone 4S as the Siri temptation becomes too much to handle.
Are you a frustrated over Apple’s strict stance on Siri being for the iPhone 4S only? Obviously this is a clear marketing strategy as they want to make the iPhone 4S as attractive as possible for new iPhone buyers, but for the millions of iPhone 4 owners out there who don’t have the money to buy the upgrade, turning to a jailbreak solution seems to be an inevitable option. What are your opinions on this?
