BF3: New Back to Karkand Gameplay, Conquest Assault mode explained

By Updated on

We have a real treat for Battlefield 3 fans, as EA has released the very first solid gameplay footage for upcoming DLC pack Back to Karkand, which is expected to land on all three platforms of the game sometime in December.

Just a few days ago we showed you the premier gameplay trailer for Back to Karkand, which gave you snippets of gameplay from the four maps featured in the pack, but now we have two new gameplay videos which unveil solid footage for two of the maps.

Those maps are Gulf of Oman and Strike at Karkand and courtesy of Gamespot, you can check out both clips below. The gameplay on view is pretty awesome to say the least, but it gives players who didn’t play Battlefield 2 a chance to see the classic Conquest Assault game mode, which currently isn’t available in the full game. Conquest Assault differs in the way that one team has capturable flags, and the other doesn’t. The team with the capturable flags has to defend the flags from the opposing team, but if all flags are taken they will no longer be able to spawn. This then puts a greater emphasis on teamwork as you can imagine, rather than Conquest mode now where you often see players just ‘doing their own thing’ rather than going all out to take flags.

Don’t forget, those of you who opted to buy the Limited Edition version of Battlefield 3 will get the Back to Karkand DLC pack for nothing – absolutely free. That includes the four maps, new vehicles, new weapons and the new game modes – it really doesn’t get much better than that. We’re very supportive of the ‘giving back to the gamer’ cause so we love to see things like this happen, as DLC is getting far too expensive in many gamers eyes.

Check out the new footage and let us know your thoughts on both maps, and the new Conquest Assault mode. Are you excited about Back to Karkand?
