Since it was first launched back in the summer Google+ has continued to grow with user numbers and options. The surge of traffic that was seen just after the social networking site was finally opened to all comers may have slowed down a bit, but Google are continuing to offer new features. Today we can tell you that Google+ business pages are now available, as the new kid on the block continues to go after Facebook.
An article over at the BBC is reporting that Google have said the new Google+ Pages facility will provide companies and brands the platform to engage with their audience. Another good feature of the service will be that organizations will not be charged for it, and there will no adverts put onto the company’s pages.
This new service will be another challenge to Facebook, which also offers businesses their own pages to promote themselves. To celebrate the launch Burberry, Barcelona FC, and the Muppets are just some of the organizations taking part.
The company are claiming the new service is more than a shop window, and says they can benefit by adding a + link to one of the adverts listed on Google’s results or another marketing campaign. This will allow businesses to monitor how many clicks they get to their Google+ page, and where they originated from.
Google has stressed though that it won’t be passing on individual IP addresses or any other personal data. Companies will also be able to use the Circle option to match different information to different groups. There will also be the Hangouts service so companies can set up video chats with up to nine other users.
