Rainbow Six: Patriots – release date negates 2013 Xbox 720 / PS4 rumors

Now that Assassin’s Creed: Revelations and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier are almost upon us we were beginning to wonder what other titles the guys at Ubisoft had up their sleeves, well unsurprisingly another Rainbox Six gamer has been confirmed, this is called Rainbow Six: Patriots.

GameSpy tell us that the game’s plot will involve Team Rainbow taking on a highly-trained and well-organized group called the True Patriots, they have it in for the so-called corrupt American government. Gamer’s will have to make ethical decisions and use team play and tactics to overcome the enemy. Ubisoft’s creative director, David Sears, has spoken briefly about the upcoming game, he claims that the game will be tense and immersive – we think you will agree that things are sounding pretty exciting.

When you look back at previous Rainbow Six title we think that you will agree that the campaign has stolen the show, so to speak, well in Rainbow Six: Patriots we are told to expect “a huge variety of new co-op and multiplayer experiences”.

Three years have past since Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 hit the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, therefore it is about time that we began hearing details regarding Ubisoft’s next instalment, however we are led to believe that it won’t arrive until 2013. What’s interesting is that it is in development for PS3, PC and Xbox 360, does this mean we won’t see a next-gen console by 2013? Or maybe it will arrive earlier in the year than the next-gen consoles? We can’t wait to find out.

It will be interesting to see if Ubisoft keep on track with this game, if it sees the delays which Ghost Recon: Future Soldier has seen it could be destined for failure as Sony and Microsoft’s next-generation consoles could arrive beforehand – let’s hope this isn’t the case.

When we hear more about Rainbow Six: Patriots we will keep you informed, are you excited about its release?

Maybe it’s coming out for the next gen of consoles as well. Microsoft has alluded to the 360 and its successor coexisting and Sony very successfully did just that with the PS2 and PS3. There’s no reason to think that a game for the xbox/PS3 in 2013 means there is no chance of a newer system in the same year.
