New Sky Movies app inbound

A couple of days ago we told you that a Sky Go application was finally due to be released for the Android platform before the end of the year. It looks like the broadcaster has been busy as we have news of a new Sky Movies application that is inbound.

The new application is promising to be the perfect companion for movie fans and according to What Hi-Fi should be available in the next few weeks. It will be available for owners of the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch to begin with, and users of the Android platform can expect a version early in the New Year.

This app will bring together all the movie content from the British provider, with users being able to browse all the available content on Sky’s movie channels. Users will also be able to view information and trailers, and even set their set top box to record movies direct from their mobile device.

If a movie is available on the Sky Go application users will be able to click straight through and view the movie on their mobile device if they are a Sky Movies subscriber. Another feature is movie listings for local theaters for the week ahead with times, and users can see trailers for the movies. The company are also planning a new look Sky Movies website.

Sky is certainly looking to expand its service in a variety of ways; a few weeks ago they announced improvements to its Sky Anytime+ service.
